Mannen i Gata
Bruland har deltatt i utstilinger som Cosmic Latte, Rogaland Kunstsenter, Stavanger (2016) og Faces, Surfaces and Interfaces: The Commons and Community, Goethe- Institut, New York (2014)

English:
The man in the street
“Might art yet belong to everyone again as in the old times?” Edvard Munch
Christina Bruland, a graduate student at the Art Academy in Oslo, walked along the streets of Oslo and handed out disposable cameras to passers-by. Those who accepted them became co-authors of her exhibition.
The idea was to focus on photography in 2016, a time when most people walk around with a digital camera in their pocket, its use intended primarily for social media. This phone camera is frequently turned towards the photographer herself: more images snapped and checked, before the worst ones are deleted. Images are filtered carefully before being dispersed into the virtual world.
Has our relationship to photography changed in the last ten, twenty, thirty years? How does it feel to take a picture without being able to see it on a screen immediately afterwards? Does printing an image increase its value, or is the number of “likes” that counts? And what kinds of images culminate in a photo exhibition?
The recipients of Bruland’s cameras have together created an exhibition at Academy Room at the Kunstnernes Hus, developed from a conversation between the participants in the exhibition space and based on visual material that they each produced.
Christina Bruland (b. 1983, Norway) explores language and other forms ofcommunication with her works. She expresses herself through different media including installation, sculpture, video and photography. Bruland has participated in exhibitions such as Cosmic Latte, Rogaland Art Centre, Stavanger (2016) and Faces, Surfaces and Interfaces: The Commons and Community, Goethe- Institut, New York (2014) www.christinabruland.com
